Janet Ross, Executive Director & Sustainability Team Leader

janet-rossJanet Ross has a B.A. in Outdoor Education and an M.S. in Experiential Education. Previous to starting Four Corners School in 1984, she worked for the National Park Service, Bureau of Land Management, and U.S. Forest Service as a backcountry ranger, wilderness specialist, and recreation crew leader for seven years. She worked as a wilderness guide for over 15 years for the Colorado Outward Bound School, the National Outdoor Leadership School, Wilderness Challenge, Operation Breakout, Prescott College, and other outdoor programs. She founded FCS in 1984 as an outgrowth of her love for the Colorado Plateau and desire to teach others about the need to understand and protect it.


Ruth Mattox, Business Manager & Administration Team Leader

Ruth Skouson Mattox has a B.S. in Speech Communication with an emphasis in Organizational Communication from the University of Utah.  Ruth's business experience includes owning and operating her own small business, human resource management, and public administration. Ruth takes opportunities to enjoy the Colorado Plateau by hiking, running, cross-country skiing and standing still to look and listen and take in the beauty of this magnificent environment. 

 


Alex Nees—CCYC Program Manager

Alex has a B.A. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and an M.S. in Biology.  He has over 10 years of experience in outdoor education and ecological restoration work in the American Southwest.  He has worked as a research scientist in southwestern Colorado and eastern Utah, and formerly oversaw the comprehensive biological management of a privately-owned nature preserve in western New Mexico.  


  

 

Diana Galindo—CCYC Program Development Coordinator  

dianaDiana has a B.A. in Latin American Literature and Cultural Studies. She worked as a counselor with Hi Hill outdoor school in California prior to solo leading a 6-month Sustainable Forestry Crew for CCYC in 2009.  From March 2010 to March 2011, Diana was the CCYC AmeriCorps Vista and is now the CCYC Program Development Coordinator.  As PDC, she assists in the long-range visioning and development of CCYC programs as well as recruiting, hiring and supervising as many as 70 corpsmembers per year. 

 

 

Kathy Stiteler, Office Manager and SWED Coordinator/Contact

KathyKathy Stiteler has studied business programming, and worked for 7 years at The University of New Mexico in the IT department maintaining their HR system.  She was born and raised in New Mexico and loves the beauty and space that the Southwest has to offer. 

 

 

Kristen Trejos, BOEP Regional Coordinator, Arizona

kristen-trejosKristen Trejos is a graduate of William Smith College of upstate NY where she earned a BA pursuing an individual major entitled "Diverse Populations in Education". She also received her teacher certification in elementary and special education, having worked with children from pre-K through sixth grade. In addition, Kristen has her Montessori Elementary Certification and has taught in Arizona and Colorado, integrating the fundamentals of outdoor and environmental education.

Becky Kerr, BOEP Regional Coordinator, New Mexico

becky-kerrBecky Kerr has a B.S. in Microbiology and Medical Technology from Colorado State University, and a Secondary Science Teaching Certificate from the University of Northern Colorado. She taught Life Science, Earth Science, and Physical Science to Middle School students for 13 years, and Physics and Sports Medicine to High School students for one year. At the middle school she had an environmental educational easement, an outdoor classroom, where she took her students every month to observe changes in the environment as well as relating the classroom concepts with the real world. In 1998 she earned the first annual Joan and Hy Rosner Environmental Education award presented by the New Mexico State Land Office for Stewardship of this Environmental Easement. She was acknowledged as an exemplary teacher by the New Mexico State School Accreditation team when they visited an outdoor tailgate program at the easement.

Carrie Wheelock, BOEP Regional Coordinator, Utah/Colorado

carrie-wheelockCarrie has a M.S. in Environmental Education and a B.S. in Wildlife Biology. She has worked for the last 4 years for the Jerome Ford Nature center, Randall Davey Audubon center, and Birds of Vermont Museum. She has been a teacher and substitute teacher at Sharon Elementary School in Vermont.
