This non-native tree is quickly choking out willows and other native plants. To clear the river of this invasive tree, you'll use chainsaws and loppers and apply a herbicide to the stumps. Regardless of whether the crew is a backcountry or front-country crew, all ERRC crews will be based out of the town of Escalante and not Monticello. Transportation will be provided to and from the worksites. Those that have their personal vehicles, will have the option to drive themselves to Escalante. Aside from gaining valuable backpacking experience, you will also receive extensive training (chainsaw use S-212, herbicide applicator and CPR/First Aid), a bi-weekly living stipend, and the chance to work directly with land management agencies and local organizations.  A nominal fee will be automatically deducted from participants paychecks to cover the cost of ALL meals and snacks.
